Cosmetic Acupuncture is a system used in ancient times in China by royalty to keep them looking young. It has now been further developed in the USA by Dr Martha Lucas and Denise Ellinger L.Ac. after intensive research into ancient texts and practice. This has resulted in the MEI ZEN Cosmetic Acupuncture system, now used all over the USA
Which areas can be treated?
At the moment the face and abdomen. But I am developing protocols for the hips, thighs and buttocks. Please ask.
What Happens?
Very fine needles are inserted into Acupuncture points on the body and face, then left for about 20 minutes. This moves the "Qi" and Blood in the skin and promotes repair.
What results can I expect?
Fine lines can go, deeper lines ‘level out’. Skin becomes more healthy and fresh as the nourishment to the skin is improved. The tummy can become firmer and more toned. The International Journal of Acupuncture has shown that Cosmetic Acupuncture is 90% effective. This means it does not work for everyone, but most people. Results may last for 3 to 5 years but it is a good idea to have top- ups to maintain the results. (A treatment every 3 months would be recommended).
